VoX Communications & Paragon
Wireless Announce
the Use of
WiFi VoIP & GSM Handset at IMS Plugfest™ Event
Scheduled For January 15-19 at The UNH/InterOperability
Lab
The hipi-1100™ hipi-2200™ Dual-Mode Phone will be
featured on WiFi Service over the VoX VoIP Network
WHITE PLAINS, NY
& RICHARDSON, TX - January 15, 2007 – VoX
Communications Corp. and Paragon Wireless Inc.
announced today that they will participate in the
IMS Forum Plugfest™ with both the Paragon Wireless
hipi-1100™ and hipi-2200™ handsets running on the
VoX VoIP network for the week of January 15–19 at
the University of New Hampshire InterOperability
Labs.
The Paragon Wireless
handsets are dual mode phones which utilize an IMS
network for both WLAN and GSM services. Customers
desiring the convenience of using the same phone
device in the GSM, home and enterprise networks can
also benefit from flat rate VoIP plans. For example,
the VoX Unlimited VoIP plan will offer unlimited
minutes over WLAN for $24.95 a month. The phone will
use the VoX network whenever possible -- switching
to a GSM network to utilize the more expensive but
ubiquitous cell phone service as needed.
“We welcome
innovative IMS services that industry leaders such
as Paragon Wireless and VoX bring to the first IMS
Plugfest event,” said Michael Khalilian, chairman
and president of the IMS Forum. “We have seen
prototypes of similar devices; however, we are
encouraged by the news that Paragon Wireless has a
handset that is now readily available through OEM
and ODM channels.”
The IMS Plugfest
event is scheduled for Jan 15-19, 2007 at the
University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab in
Durham, NH. The results of lab testing, as well as
further demonstrations of both the Paragon Wireless
handsets and the VoX WiFi VoIP services will be
presented at IT Expo Jan 23-26 in Ft. Lauderdale,
FL. The demonstrations will take place at the IMS
Forum booth.
