Paragon Wireless
Introduces The World’s First SIP-Based Windows
Mobile 5.0®
Dual-Mode Handset
Windows-Based Handset Launches At VON Boston,
September 12-14, 2006 in Booth 707
Richardson, Texas and Boston, MA, September 12,
2006. For Immediate Release.
Paragon Wireless (www.parawireless.com),
the leading dual-mode (Cellular/VoWLAN) technology
provider to global wireless OEMs, cellular design
houses, ISP operators, IP-PBX vendors, and VoIP
operators alike, announced the launch of the world’s
first SIP-based Windows mobile dual-mode handset at
the VON show in Boston.
The hipi-2200 is the next generation in integrated
dual-mode handsets. Utilizing Paragon Wireless’
proven VoWLAN / GSM dual-mode voice technology, the
hipi-2200 adds the Windows Mobile 5.0® operating
system to further expand the usability and
functionality of this extremely versatile handset.
With the built in support for email, web browsing,
the MP3/MP4 player and the camcorder/recorder on a
Windows Mobile® platform, users can access the
Internet, listen to music and take and review
pictures all from one easily carried handset, that
also serves as their mobile phone. The 1100mAh
Li-ion battery offers users up to 4 hours of talk
time or 100 hours of standby time, with both GSM and
WiFi radios simultaneously active, making the
hipi-2200 the only handset users need to carry.
According to Ilkka Pouttu, Vice President of Sales
and Marketing for Paragon Wireless, “the hipi-2200
changes the way enterprises—and
individuals—communicate with each other.
Organizations can immediately measure their ROI,
while workers can access all the information they
need from one handset. The hipi-2200 joins our
product line as a result of our commitment to
dual-mode product development, our experience in the
handset market, and our continuous improvement to
dual-mode technologies such as FMC features,
security, power management, roaming, and
over-the-air management of handsets. Paragon is able
to offer a family of dual-mode handsets which are
cost-effective technology leaders,” said Pouttu.
The hipi-2200’s feature-set takes the landscape of
handset technology as we know it today, while
focusing on high performance and functionality,
including:
::
OS: Windows Mobile 5.0;
::
Support for quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and
Class-10 GPRS;

telecom-munications community,” said Jon Arnold,
Principal of J Arnold & Associates. “For the first
time, mobile workers, organizations and enterprises
alike will be able to meet their computing needs in
a cost-effective manner. Technology is changing on
a daily basis and to be able to have all of the
major programming and connectivity options in one
dual-mode handset is a tremendous asset,” said
Arnold.
